Ron Treffene and Maurice Dean founded Best Bottlers in 2001. Both were Directors of the then Mildara Blass wine company.
Maurice and Ron desired to begin a contract bottling company in Mildura and when Normans Wines went into receivership, they purchased the bottling assets in Northcote, Melbourne. They seamlessly transitioned Best Bottlers into the contract bottling market and serviced Normans existing customers without any disruption to their respective businesses.
While the operation was running successfully in Melbourne, Ron began the construction of facilities in Mildura utilising new buildings and machinery. Once the Mildura facility was operational, they closed the Melbourne facility and relocated the existing machinery to compliment the bottling line installed at Mildura. Stuart Haby, Normans experienced bottling winemaker, also relocated to Mildura to carry on the high level of service expected in the winemaking department. As such, the first bottle was packed off the line in the new facility in August 2002.
Ron attracted very experienced bottling and distribution management staff, with many coming from Mildara Blass’ Merbein operation.
From humble beginnings Best Bottlers has emerged as a steadily growing company, now twice its original size offering state of the art facilities with old-fashioned service values. |
